Statement by Â鶹ÊÓƵ President Randy Moffett on Governor Jindal’s Announcement to Study a Merger of UNO and SUNO and Shift to the UL System

“The Â鶹ÊÓƵ will work closely with the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Board of Regents to explore the feasibility of a University of New Orleans and Southern University of New Orleans merger and possible shift of the merged institution to the UL System.    A discussion of this nature has numerous implications for multiple constituents and, therefore, should be thorough, thoughtful and focused on what is best for the future of education in our state.”

EIGHT UNIVERSITIES STRONG: The Â鶹ÊÓƵ is the largest higher education system in the state enrolling over 83,000 students at Grambling State University, Â鶹ÊÓƵ Tech University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern Â鶹ÊÓƵ University, the University of Â鶹ÊÓƵ at Lafayette and the University of Â鶹ÊÓƵ at Monroe.
