UPDATES FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA SYSTEM DECEMBER BOARD MEETING

Baton Rouge, LA – December 5, 2024 – The 鶹Ƶ Board of Supervisors met today to approve new academic programs, infrastructure updates, and faculty and staff initiatives, ensuring continued innovation and success across its nine universities and for over 83,000 students across the state.

Agenda highlights included the approval of a Bachelor of Science in Scientific Visual Communication at 鶹Ƶ Tech University and advanced degrees in Social and Public Policy at the University of 鶹Ƶ at Lafayette. The Board also authorized campus infrastructure projects and discussed updates to System-wide strategic initiatives.

President Rick Gallot reflected on his first year in this position, “I am deeply grateful for the dedication and talent of our Board members, faculty, staff, and partners who make our collective success possible. As we look ahead to the new year, we remain committed to advancing opportunities for our students and communities across 鶹Ƶ.”

The UL Systemannounced that registration is now open for the For Our Future Conference, which will take place March 27-28, 2025, with a Pre-Conference event on March 26. ACADEMIC AND STUDENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

鶹Ƶ Tech University: approval to offer a Bachelor of Science in Scientific Visual Communication.

Nicholls State University: approval to name The William Dewitt Hunter Academic Excellence Program for Bridge to Independence.

University of 鶹Ƶ at Lafayette: approval to offer a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Social and Public Policy.

鶹Ƶ: approved revision to Board Rule, Chapter III, Faculty and Staff, Section XV. Termination.

University of New Orleans: approval of a restructuring plan.

ATHLETIC COMMITTEE

鶹Ƶ Tech University: approval of contractual agreements between various Assistant Coaches, 鶹Ƶ Tech University, and the 鶹Ƶ Tech University Foundation, Inc.

McNeese State University: approval of a contract addendum with Mr. Brendon Gilroy, Head Track and Field/Cross Country Coach, effective November 6, 2024.

Southeastern 鶹Ƶ University: approval of a contract with Mr. Kyle Vagher, Director of Sports Performance/Strength Coach, effective November 1, 2024.

Southeastern 鶹Ƶ University: approval of contractual agreements between various Assistant Coaches, Southeastern 鶹Ƶ University, and the Lion Athletics Association.

AUDIT COMMITTEE

鶹Ƶ: approval of the revised Internal Audit Charters for the 鶹Ƶ’s nine institutions and the 鶹Ƶ Office.

鶹Ƶ: approval of the revised Audit Committee Charter for the Board of Supervisors for the 鶹Ƶ.

鶹Ƶ: reported on internal and external audit activity for the period of October 14 to November 14, 2024.

FACILITIES PLANNING COMMITTEE

鶹Ƶ Tech University: approval to amend its Five-Year Capital Outlay submission to increase funding for the Central Steam Generator – Switch Gear Project.

Nicholls State University: approval to name Room 142 in O. Cleveland Hill Hall, College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, the “H. Allen Thomason Independent Learning Lab.”

Nicholls State University: approval to name the three meeting and desk spaces in the Bayou Region Incubator.

University of 鶹Ƶ at Lafayette: authorization to enter into an Act of Donation for the acquisition of property from the University of 鶹Ƶ at Lafayette Foundation.

University of New Orleans: approval to enter into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (“CEA”) and related transactional documents, including but not limited to a mortgage, with the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Inc. for the transfer of the Goldring Hall to the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Inc., on terms and conditions acceptable to the Board and for consideration of money and/or services with a stated value not being less than the appraised value. The CEA is in accordance with Article VII Section 14(C) of the 鶹Ƶ Constitution and Act 485 of the 2024 Regular Session of the 鶹Ƶ Legislature.

Northwestern State University: approval to conduct a student referendum for a Student Self-Assessed Fee.

鶹Ƶ: approval to establish LEQSF (8g) Endowed Professorships and Endowed Chairs as follows:
